Passing of the GavelOn Friday June 28th, the Club thanked outgoing President, Doug Tozzi, for his year of leadership and welcomed the incoming President, Dudley Larus, as well as the new President Elect, Alison Weissinger. The meeting featured the ‘Passing of the Gavel’ Ceremony and we heard from the incoming President on his plans for the year. Plans include engaging with all members and asking them to select a Board Area such as Service projects or Membership and working with a Board member on one of the many committees associated with that area of the club. Also provided was a review of the recent, 'Club Satisfaction Survey' that showed that the club was doing most things well, but the survey pointed some areas where we could improve. This will help the new Board Members and Officers. Incoming President, Dudley Larus being sworn in by Assistant Governor, Cynthia Edwards Link to club satisfaction survey: |

Football Legend Visits Decatur RotaryWe were graced by football royalty this week when legendary player and coach, Bill Curry, interviewed his wife, award-winning author, Carolyn Curry, about her new football murder mystery novel, Sudden Death. Written by a woman who has spent her entire life married to a football player and coach, the book explores serious themes including sports gambling, alcoholism and spousal abuse. |

Famed WSB Anchor, John Pruitt, Discusses His New NovelAn African-American serviceman is gunned down on a rural Georgia road in July 1964. This shocking murder ensnares a wide range of characters including the journalists who cover it, the lawmen who must solve it, the civil rights leaders who capitalize upon it, the politicians who exploit it, and the Atlanta magnate who fears its impact on the New South image he desperately wants to protect.

Rotarian Emory Morsberger Helps UkraineTom Adams introduced our speaker, Rotarian Emory Morsberger, who spoke about his recent trip and efforts to help Ukraine. Emory began his remarks by passing around a piece of shrapnel he had picked up off the ground in Ukraine and remarked what this could do to the human body and the urgent need for medical supplies. He stated several times that for him and many others in the Atlanta Rotarian community, it was not enough to simply write a check to help. |
