Bing Martinez was born in Cebu, Philippines. He has an economics degree from the Ateneo de Manila and an MBA from the University of the Philippines. While in the Philippines, he worked with a thread company, a development bank and a shipping company. His home Rotary Club in Cebu is the sister club to Decatur Rotary.

He married in 1980, and joined his wife, Rowena, in Washington, D.C., where they lived for 32 years. He worked for an insurance company, a real estate appraisal and consulting company, and a major bank before he started his own consulting business. They retired in 2012 and moved back to Cebu, where he promptly joined Rotary. Within five years, he served as club secretary and president. He remains very active in the Rotary Club of Cebu, recently serving as the protocol officer and grants mentor, a role that’s allowed Bing to support $1.3 million of approved global grants since 2014. In 2022 he was appointed assistant governor.

Bing and Rowena’s three adult children live in Toronto and Atlanta.
