At the Jan. 20 meeting, we took a moment and asked our members to share with us service projects they are working on, as well as their observations and ideas. This is always a very interesting meeting format and this one was no exception.
Pete Pfeiffer gave the invocation, and here are some of the stories that followed:
Tim Martin talked about the upcoming PAGE STAR Awards program (described above).
Jason Conn described his latest exploits which include trying stand-up comedy.
Maria Alvarez spoke about her recent trip to Central America where she visited Granada and was hosted by several Rotary clubs. She shared her observations about the culture and challenges the people face there.
Doug Robinson shared how busy he's been during the holidays running a fast-paced retail business, the Eagle-Eye Book Shop, taking a cruise and also getting COVID. Here he offers club members a tutorial on using the new website and taking names.
James Brewer-Calvert shared the challenges of keeping his congregation together over the pandemic years and how his church has emerged possibly more together and unified than ever by emphasizing communication between congregants, pastors and elders.
Charles Luton shared his interest in military history which is prompting an upcoming trip to Vietnam.
President Alan shared his love for the Burns Club of Atlanta. Officially organized in 1896, it's a private social club and literary and cultural society commemorating the works and spirit of the 18th century national poet of Scotland, Robert Burns.
