Chief Toni Washington
and Capt. Kelvonte Byrd
Chief Washington is the first African American and first female to serve as the Fire Chief/Emergency Manager. Her work involves planning and managing the operations of the fire department in fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency management, and emergency medical services. Captain Byrd is a captain with the Decatur Fire Department, and serves as the city’s Community Wellness Officer.

Study abroad! Rotary Youth Exchange is an incredible opportunity for high school students to experience immersion in another culture, and now is the time to apply for the next school year.

Applications opened August 1 and will close October 15, 2026.
