Andrew Pinson is a judge on the Georgia Supreme Court.
Gov. Brian Kemp appointed Pinson to the Georgia Supreme Court on February of 2022, to replace David Nahmias, effective July 17, 2022. His current term ends on December 31, 2024.
Pinson received a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in 2008 and a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2011.

Decatur Rotary Foundation Spring Renewal: A wonderful night for a great cause
The Decatur Rotary fundraiser takes place this year at Independent Distillery, 547 E. College Ave. in Decatur, on May 18, 5:30-8:30 PM, and features a live auction, silent auction, fun games, and a raffle drawing. Our theme is "Spring Renewal," because this is a time for all of us to look forward to a brighter future and a renewed sense of normality and gratitude for our beautiful surroundings. We anticipate an enjoyable event, and encourage you to invite family, friends and colleagues to attend. The net proceeds from this event directly benefit the foundation and its many beneficiaries.

Big Green Egg Raffle Raffle Challenge
for May 18 Fundraiser
Jason Conn gave everyone raffle tickets to sell in support of the May 18 Rotary Fundraiser and a chance at taking home the Big Green Egg, sponsored by Intown Ace Hardware. The raffle will be at the fundraiser on May 18. Proceeds benefit the Decatur Rotary Foundation programs that support youth at risk, and education.

Rotary Service Project at
Decatur High School May 13
Join us on Saturday, May 13 from 9 to 11 am at Decatur High School where we will continue working on two courtyards at the school so students can use this outdoor space during the day.
What to bring? Just yourself and a pair of gloves. If you have a garden rake or flat shovel, bring that, too. Noel Maloof will bring other tools and materials for our work. Please contact Noel at nlmaloof@gmail.com if you plan to be there.

Bryan Downs gave the invocation and shared some stories about how our speaker and past Rotary president, Judge Dan Coursey, kept everyone laughing.

Rick Garnitz provided the introduction to our speaker sharing how he kept the club in stitches week-to-week with great stories from the bench.
Judge Dan Coursey is a former municipal court judge in the City of Stone Mountain, Georgia. He was appointed to the position in 2002 and served for more than 15 years until his retirement in 2018. During his tenure, Judge Coursey was known for his fairness, compassion, and dedication to upholding the law. He was highly respected by the community and his colleagues, and his legacy continues to be felt in Stone Mountain today.
Judge Coursey shared many great humorous stories from his many years on the bench. The stories came from categories such as name changes. Anyone can petition the court to change a name. One story was from a Mr. Duda who was a salesman and thought that changing his middle name to ZIP-A-DEE so his name would be Zip-A-Dee Duda would attract more sales! The club really enjoyed welcoming Dan back home.
