Our Speaker This Week:
Han Pham, Her Term
Han Pham is the executive director of Her Term, an organization that empowers women to run for political office in Georgia. She was also recently selected as an Obama Leader for 2024-2025. She graduated from Wellesley College and the University of Minnesota Law School before working for more than a decade in the legal field. Han is the founder of the Decatur Lunar New Year Festival and Badass Asian Women, and currently serves on the board of The Lola, a women’s club in Atlanta. Previously, she served as board chair for the Global Village Project. Han has also been recognized by Atlanta Magazine both as a “Woman Making a Mark” and as one of the 500 most powerful people in Atlanta.
Han balances her advocacy work with entrepreneurship, running Edwin Jarvis Print & CoWork in Clarkston, and homesteading on a micro farm with goats, peacocks, chickens, and dogs.
Weekly luncheon meetings begin at 12:15 pm

This Friday is our final day for collecting items for DEAM (Decatur-area Emergency Assistance Ministry). Please be generous!

Last week was a treat for our club. District Governor Cynthia Dorsey Edwards and Assistant Governor Jared Evans joined us, with DG Cynthia making a presentation about her background and her vision for the year ahead. She encouraged us to:
Focus on preparing people to take your place
Focus on service and making a lasting impact
Consider following the criteria for club awards, as they provide a recipe for club success
Participate in online training
DG Cynthia also asked us to think about our “why” – Why did you join Rotary? Why do you stay in Rotary?
Our outbound Rotary Youth Exchange students (Celie and Ellie), along with our inbound student (Alice), all attended Rotary last week. It was the final meeting for Celie and Ellie, who leave shortly for their exchange experiences in France and Italy. Kelly Caudle presented them with our club banners to give to their exchange clubs.
And it was the first meeting for Alice, who arrived in Decatur from Brazil a few weeks ago. She introduced herself to the club with a presentation about her home in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
