Rotary Youth Exchange and the Decatur Club
Rotary Youth Exchange builds peace one young person at a time.
Students learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens. Exchanges for students ages 15-19 are sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 countries.
Rotary Youth Exchange inspires young leaders to serve as catalysts for peace and social justice in their local communities and throughout the world, long after their exchanges end. This program is possible because of the dedication, leadership, and passion of the tens of thousands of volunteers — Rotary members and nonmembers alike — who make this unique program so successful.
John Bennett, the Decatur Club’s champion for the Youth Exchange tells the club about Decatur student Riley Paré who is going to Italy this year. John makes this program happen at the Decatur Club.

The Decatur Club Installs New Benches at the Toy Park Honoring Rev. James Brewer Calvert
The club wanted to remember one of its beloved members who passed away recently due to illness, Rev. James Brewer-Calvert. Members Rick Garnitz and Jason Conn spearheaded an initiative to purchase new benches for one of Jame’s cherished projects, the Decatur Toy Park.

Cindy and Rick explained the past, present and future of Social Security.
In a fascinating presentation that affects almost everyone, Rick and Cindy explained the past, present and future of Social Security. They focused on how the government has been trying to deal with social security to help ensure its future and the possibility of running out of funds in the next twenty to forty years.
Cindy responds to questions from the club.
Then, the team of experts explained possible remedies, all of which had ramifications that could impact recipients down the road. Joe Kusmik asks the Social Security Team a question as to how inflation impacts Social Security’s future.
