OUR SPEAKER: Caston Noorullah | Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent
UGA Extension, DeKalb County
Caston is an Atlanta native, who received her bachelor's degree in horticulture from the University of Georgia. After graduating, she worked on a local farm and retail nursery until returning to Atlanta to garden at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, working with volunteers and focusing on native and pollinator plants. She has experience throughout the horticultural field, including local food systems and community outreach. She is passionate about connecting with nature and helping others do the same.

Upcoming Service Project at the Toy Park: We Need You!

Fundraiser Recap Decatur Rotary Rocks Out Raising Money for Local Non-Profits

At the Lost Druid Brewery on May 2, Decatur Rotarians, guests and dignitaries enjoyed a great band, wonderful food and drinks as we raised money for deserving local non-profits. With an 80s theme we heard local band HD80 play fabulous 80s hits.
It was great to have Governor-Elect Gordan Owens and Assistant Governor Cynthia Edwards there along with DeKalb District Super 7 Commissioner Loraine Cochran-Johnson who is also running for DeKalb CEO.
Auctioneers Dan DeWoskin and Jason Conn kept things moving, challenging the audience to bid on trips and great hotel stays. The crowd responded in a big way bidding on some of our great items like the Puerto Vallarta hotel stay.
What’s Next?
The Decatur Rotary Foundation Board of Directors will meet and determine the funds available for local grants supporting youth-at-risk and literacy. Grant applications are still being received and the application is available on the Decatur Rotary website: decaturrotaryga.org. The grant committee, Marion Curry, Brian Deutsch, Kelly Caudle and Dudley Larus, will meet and review applicants and make awards in June.
