"Changing of the Guard"

Last week was the final meeting of the Rotary year, and thus it was time for the “changing of the guard.” District Governor Steve Ivory swore in Eric Lucas as the new president before swearing in the new board of directors.

Past presidents Jason Conn and David Ewing offer words of advice for new president Eric Lucas

Outgoing president Alison Weissinger asked the past presidents of the club in attendance to offer Eric Lucas advice. Some of that wisdom included: “End the meetings on time, and if you can’t end on time, end early”; “Involve everyone in the club”; “Always bring a copy of the speaker’s bio, in case you end up having to introduce them”; “Trust and rely on your board”; and “It’s gonna be all right!”

Tom Adams has 45 years of perfect attendance!

Herb McCoy and Dud Larus achieved 3 years.

Several members were recognized for perfect attendance: Luis Abularach, Tom Adams, Maria Alvarez, John Bennett, Kelly Caudle, Dan DeWoskin, Bob Ettensohn, Dud Larus, Eric Lucas, Herb McCoy, Pete Pfeiffer, and Alison Weissinger. Notably, Tom Adams logged 45 years, and Eric Lucas managed 38 years!

Luis Abularach and Alison Weissinger were recognized for their service to Decatur Rotary

The club thanked Luis Abularach for his hard work the past year serving as the Sergeant at Arms. And members thanked President Alison for leading the club this year with a standing ovation.

We raised $2k for Polio Plus!
President Alison and Dud Larus shared some good news. The money collected from our weekly raffle added up to $2,000, which the club donated to RI’s Polio Plus campaign.

Thank You to Our Club Sponsors

We are grateful for the support of our local sponsors, and we encourage our members to support them in return.
